How much does a flat cost to rent in Kolkata right now?
It depends heavily on the area. As a rough guide for 2026, a 1BHK in Kestopur or Dum Dum starts around ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 a month, a 2BHK in Baguiati or Lake Town sits between ₹11,000 and ₹20,000, and furnished 2BHK and 3BHK flats in Salt Lake, New Town and near DLF go from ₹18,000 up to ₹45,000. Do you charge tenants a fee?
Searching and enquiring is free. For flats sourced through our brokers a standard brokerage applies, which we tell you before you visit. Owner-direct listings are marked so you know when there is no brokerage.
What documents does an owner usually ask for?
A government ID (Aadhaar, PAN or passport), a photo, proof of employment or college admission, and the police verification form that most societies in Salt Lake and New Town now require. We help you prepare these before the visit.
How much deposit is normal in Kolkata?
One to two months’ rent is standard in most north and east Kolkata societies; some furnished flats in New Town ask for three. Deposits are refundable at the end of the tenancy minus agreed deductions, and we encourage owners to put this in writing.
Are there flats for bachelors and working women?
Yes. We tag every listing with who the owner is comfortable renting to, so you do not waste visits. Many societies in Kestopur, Baguiati and Dum Dum are bachelor friendly; New Town and Salt Lake have a growing number of working-women PGs and shared flats.
How quickly can I move in?
If the flat is vacant and your documents are ready, two to five days is typical: visit, agree terms, sign the 11-month agreement and hand over the deposit. Occupied flats usually need a notice period of 15 to 30 days.
